What is the relation between executive and legislature in a parliamentary system?
Answer and explanation
The executive is linked to Parliament and accountable to itकार्यपालिका संसद से जुड़ी और उसके प्रति जवाबदेह होती है
Answer: A. In a parliamentary system, the executive is closely connected with the legislature. The Prime Minister and ministers generally come from the elected legislature, and the Council of Ministers remains collectively responsible to the Lok Sabha. Parliament questions ministers, discusses government policies, examines expenditure and can withdraw confidence from the government. This connection creates democratic accountability: the executive cannot govern indefinitely without the support of the elected House. Option B is wrong because courts do not elect the executive. Option C is wrong because making laws and supervising government are central functions of the legislature. Option D is wrong because the Election Commission conducts and supervises elections; it is not the regular political superior of the Council of Ministers. Memory cue: parliamentary government means executive power plus legislative accountability.उत्तर: A।
