President acting on the Prime Minister's advice shows which feature of parliamentary system?
Answer and explanation
Real power lies with the elected executiveवास्तविक शक्ति निर्वाचित कार्यपालिका के पास होती है
Correct answer: A — in India’s parliamentary system, the President is the constitutional or formal head, while the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers exercise real executive authority. The President normally acts on the aid and advice of the Council of Ministers headed by the Prime Minister. These ministers are linked to the elected majority in the Lok Sabha and are politically accountable to Parliament. Option A is correct because it identifies the elected executive as the body that actually directs government policy and administration. B is wrong because the judiciary interprets law and protects the Constitution; it does not run the executive government. C is wrong because the President does not normally govern independently of ministerial advice. D is wrong because the Election Commission conducts elections and does not make ordinary laws. Memory cue: President is the formal head; the elected ministry is the real executive.
