What is the role of the political executive in making and implementing policy?

Correct answer: To decide the direction and get policies implemented through the administration

Correct answer: A, deciding the direction and getting policies implemented through the administration. The political executive consists of elected leaders, such as the Prime Minister and ministers, who take important policy decisions on behalf of the government. After a policy is decided, permanent officials and departments carry it out in practice. Thus, policy-making and implementation are connected: leaders decide goals and priorities, while the administration applies them through programmes, orders and public services. Option A is correct because it includes both parts. Option B describes the work of lawyers and courts, not the political executive. Option C is related to election administration, not general government policy. Option D concerns sports bodies, not the national political executive. Memory cue: leaders decide the direction; administration carries the decision forward.
