For what is a minister responsible?
Answer and explanation
For the work of the department or ministryअपने विभाग या मंत्रालय के काम के लिए
Correct answer: A. A minister is responsible for the work of the ministry or department assigned to that minister. The minister provides political direction, answers questions in Parliament and is accountable for explaining the ministry’s policies and performance. Permanent officials assist with administration and implementation, but the minister gives the department political leadership. Option A is correct because it states the normal departmental responsibility of a minister. Option B is wrong because Supreme Court judgments are delivered by the judiciary, not by ministers. Option C is wrong because the Election Commission is a constitutional authority and its appointments follow constitutional and legal procedures; a minister is not simply responsible for appointing it. Option D is wrong because the Rajya Sabha is a continuing House and is not dissolved like the Lok Sabha. A helpful distinction is between responsibility and personal control: a minister answers for the ministry, while many officials carry out its daily administrative work.सही उत्तर: A।
