If (f(x)=\frac{x-1}{x+2}) and (g(x)=\frac{x+2}{x-1}), what is the correct domain of (fg)?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: ( \mathbb{R}-{-2,1} )

Although (fg=1), the original functions do not allow (x=-2) and (x=1). It is wrong to enlarge the domain after simplification.
