After the October Revolution, the Bolsheviks did not face opposition only from monarchists or supporters of the old regime. Mensheviks and Socialist Revolutionaries were also socialist groups, but they had different ideas about the revolution, political power, elections, and the pace of change. Their opposition shows that socialism itself contained competing political currents.

This made post-October politics more complicated because the Bolsheviks had to deal with rivals who claimed to represent workers, peasants, or socialist principles. The existence of these alternative socialist forces challenged Bolshevik authority and made the new government’s consolidation of power difficult. Therefore, option A is correct.
