Ways to make society more equal

The Soviet experiment attracted international attention because it claimed to reorganise society on socialist principles, reduce class inequality and use planned economic development. Reformers and political activists in many countries therefore studied whether its methods could help create a more equal society and expand workers' rights. Option A is correct. The experiment was not intended to strengthen hereditary kings, increase Church taxation or build colonial empires; those alternatives conflict with the revolutionary and anti-imperialist ideals associated with it. This does not mean that every country accepted the Soviet model or that its results were uniformly successful. It means that its example became a major source of debate, inspiration and political learning around the world.
