What is the main meaning of a fair election?

Correct answer: All candidates and political parties get equal opportunity to campaign and contest

Direct answer: A is correct. A fair election means that all eligible candidates and political parties get a genuine and reasonably equal opportunity to contest and campaign. The rules must apply equally, and voters must be free to choose without fear, force, bribery, or unfair pressure. The idea is not that every candidate will receive exactly the same number of votes or win an equal number of seats; it means that the competition is conducted under fair rules. A is correct because equal opportunity is central to fair electoral competition. B is wrong because special use of government machinery or resources gives the ruling party an unfair advantage. C is wrong because voters should be able to vote secretly and should not be forced to reveal their choice. D is wrong because eligible citizens should not be excluded from the electoral roll arbitrarily. Memory cue: fair election means equal rules, free choice, and secret voting—not special treatment for those in power.
