When should a second layer of acrylic colour be applied?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: After the first layer dries

The governing concept is dry layering. A second acrylic layer should normally be applied after the first layer has dried sufficiently. This keeps the edges and colours separate and prevents the brush from lifting or mixing the underlying paint. Applying it while the base is very wet may create muddy blending. A torn paper or dirty brush is not a suitable condition. Therefore option C is correct.
