What is the main cause if wet acrylic colours become muddy during blending?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Too many opposing colours were repeatedly mixed

The governing concept is colour mixing and loss of saturation. Repeatedly blending several opposing or complementary colours introduces pigments that absorb different parts of light; their mixture becomes neutralised and appears dull or muddy. Excessive brush movement also mixes the layers beyond the intended transition. A large palette or small brush does not itself cause muddiness, and a dry surface would mainly prevent blending. Therefore option B identifies the main cause.
