Reflexive relation

In Class 12 Mathematics, under Relations and Functions, students study a reflexive relation as a relation R on a set A in which every element is related to itself: (a, a) ∈ R for every a ∈ A. They learn to verify this condition from ordered pairs, tables, matrices, and arrow diagrams, and to identify examples and non-examples. The topic also helps students distinguish reflexivity from other relation properties such as symmetry and transitivity.

  4. ((2,4))
View options
  1. ((a,a) \in R)
  2. ((a,b) \in R) for every (b)
  3. ((b,a) \in R) for every (b)
  4. ((a,a) \notin R)
View options
  1. Yes, because (R) is the universal relation
  2. No, because self-pairs do not occur
  3. No, because (2 \notin A)
  4. Only when (R) is empty
View options
  1. Reflexive
  2. Not reflexive
  3. Only empty
  4. Not a relation on any set
View options
  1. Yes, because (a \le a) is true for every (a)
  2. No, because (1 \le 2) is true
  3. No, because no self-pair is formed
  4. Yes, only for (1)
View options
  1. Because (a<a) is never true
  2. Because (a \le a) is true
  3. Because all pairs are present
  4. Because it is (A \times A)
View options
  1. Yes, because (a-a=0) is even
  2. No, because (a-a=1)
  3. No, because 0 is not even
  4. Only for odd numbers
View options
  1. Because (a-a=0) is not odd
  2. Because (a-a=1)
  3. Because every difference is odd
  4. Because every number is odd
View options
  1. Yes, because every (a) divides itself
  2. No, because no number divides itself
  3. Only for (a=1)
  4. Only for even numbers
View options
  1. Because (a\ne a) is false
  2. Because (a=a) is false
  3. Because every pair is a self-pair
  4. Because it is the identity relation
View options
  1. Yes, because (a+a=2a) is even
  2. No, because (a+a) is always odd
  3. No, because ((1,1)) will not be formed
  4. Only for (2)
View options
  1. No, because (a+a=2a) is even
  2. Yes, because every sum is odd
  3. Yes, because ((1,1)) is included
  4. Only for (3)
View options
  1. Reflexive
  2. Not reflexive
  3. Empty relation
  4. True only for negative numbers
View options
  1. Yes, because every number has the same remainder as itself
  2. No, because (1) and (2) have different remainders
  3. No, because no remainder occurs
  4. Only for even numbers
View options
  1. (R) is reflexive
  2. (R) is not reflexive
  3. (R) has no self-pair
  4. (R) is only the empty relation
View options
  1. No, because ((1,1)) does not satisfy the rule
  2. Yes, because all (a) are even
  3. Yes, because (b) can be anything
  4. Only ((2,2)) is missing
View options
  1. ((2,2))
