History
Ain-i-Akbari
In this Class 12 History topic, students examine the Ain-i-Akbari, Abu’l Fazl’s detailed account of Akbar’s empire and an important source for studying peasants, zamindars and the state. They learn how its records of land revenue, crop production, prices, villages, occupations and administrative arrangements help reconstruct rural life in the Mughal period. The topic also encourages students to assess the text critically, recognising its value as an imperial record as well as its limitations and official perspective.
