What is the physical explanation for low visibility in dense fog?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Scattering of light by tiny droplets (सूक्ष्म बूंदों द्वारा प्रकाश का प्रकीर्णन)

Correct answer: A. Dense fog contains a very large number of tiny droplets suspended in the air. When light from an object or a vehicle travels through this layer, the droplets redirect and scatter part of the light in many directions. The light reaching the observer is therefore weakened and spread out, so outlines and distant objects become difficult to distinguish. B is wrong because air does not lose all its weight in fog. C is wrong because sunlight or other light does not stop completely; it is scattered and reduced in clarity. D is wrong because water vapour does not turn black and fog consists mainly of condensed droplets. Memory cue: fog hides objects by scattering light, not by removing light.
