Social and Moral Aims of Physical Education

The social aim of physical education develops positive relationships, cooperation and respectful interaction with other people. The moral aim develops fairness, honesty, self-control and conduct according to accepted values and rules. Respecting both teammates and opponents demonstrates both aims at the same time: it supports healthy social relationships and also shows fairness, dignity and ethical behaviour, even when competition is intense. Caring only about personal victory ignores cooperation, while insulting an opponent damages social relations and violates sportsmanship. Hiding or ignoring rules is contrary to honesty and discipline. Therefore option A is the best answer because it combines interpersonal respect with moral conduct in a realistic sporting situation.
