Important Literary Works

Padmavat, also written as Padmાવat or Padmāvat, is a celebrated sixteenth-century narrative poem composed by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. Jayasi was a Sufi poet associated with the Awadhi literary tradition, and the work is written mainly in Awadhi. Its story uses the figures of Ratan Sen, Padmavati and Alauddin Khalji, but it should be understood as a poetic work containing symbolic and imaginative elements rather than as a straightforward historical record. Option B is therefore correct. Amir Khusrau was an important poet and musician of the Delhi Sultanate, while Kabir and Raidas were major devotional or Bhakti poets, but none of them composed Padmavat. The question tests identification of a major medieval literary work and its author.
