Folk Symbols introduces students to the visual signs and motifs used in Indian folk art to express beliefs, stories, nature, rituals, and community identity. Through examples from regional traditions, students explore how lines, shapes, colours, patterns, animals, plants, and geometric forms acquire cultural meaning. The topic also develops skills in observing, interpreting, comparing, and thoughtfully representing symbols while understanding the connection between artistic choices and the communities that create them.
