In a poster, the character of lines should reinforce the mood of the message. Shiny metal usually reflects light as a sharp, clear highlight. If the highlight is very blurry, the surface may look dull or matte, making the metal’s reflective quality less convincing. Transparency is not created by a blurry highlight. Exam tip: identify a material by observing the sharpness and brightness of its highlights.

Grey value means how light or dark each part appears, apart from its colour name. A picture may use attractive reds, blues, or greens and still look weak if its light-dark arrangement does not clearly show form, focus, and depth. The useful correction is to strengthen the value structure, so option A follows. The artist should compare the picture in light, middle, and dark groups and improve the contrast where the subject or form needs emphasis. When every colour in a poster is equally bright, all parts compete for attention almost equally. A tint is a lighter colour made by adding white to a hue. Complementary colours lie opposite each other on the colour wheel, so they create a strong visual contrast when placed together.
