एंटरल नली आहार में फीड एक संकरी नली से होकर पेट या आंत तक पहुँचती है। फीड में मौजूद बड़े या बिना छने कण नली के भीतर फँस सकते हैं और रुकावट पैदा कर सकते हैं। इसलिए फीड को अच्छी तरह पीसकर, छानकर और चिकना बनाकर दिया जाता है। फीड को गाढ़ा करना कण रहित रखने का उद्देश्य नहीं है; अधिक गाढ़ी फीड भी नली बंद होने का जोखिम बढ़ा सकती है। परीक्षा टिप: नली आहार में कण रहित और छनी हुई फीड का मुख्य लाभ ट्यूब ब्लॉकेज की रोकथाम है। / In enteral tube feeding, the feed passes through a narrow tube into the stomach or intestine. Large or unstrained particles may lodge inside the tube and cause an obstruction. Hence, the feed should be well blended, strained, and smooth. Making the feed thicker is not the purpose of removing particles; an excessively thick feed may itself increase the risk of blockage.
