Elections helped the Nazi Party become the largest party in the Reichstag, but they did not by themselves establish Hitler’s dictatorship. The Nazis used mass propaganda, intimidation and street violence, especially through the SA, and benefited from conservative elites who believed they could control Hitler. President Hindenburg appointed Hitler chancellor in January 1933; after that, the Reichstag Fire Decree restricted civil liberties, opponents were arrested, and the Enabling Act transferred legislative power to Hitler’s cabinet. Trade unions and political parties were then suppressed. Option A is correct because it presents this combination of electoral support, coercion, elite agreement, and legal manipulation.
