What happened to the king after the march to Versailles?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: He was brought to Paris

The governing concept is the influence of popular action on royal authority during the early French Revolution. On 5–6 October 1789, Parisian women and other demonstrators marched to Versailles because of bread shortages and anger at the royal court. Their pressure compelled Louis XVI and his family to leave Versailles and move to Paris. In Paris, the royal family came under much closer observation and the direct political pressure of the revolutionary public. Therefore option A is correct. The king was not sent to England, he was not guillotined immediately after this march, and he was certainly not given a new crown. The event showed that popular protest could restrict the freedom and authority of the monarchy.
