Which volunteers first sang La Marseillaise in Paris?

Correct answer: Volunteers from Marseilles

The correct answer is the volunteers from Marseilles. In 1792, volunteers arriving from Marseilles sang this war song in Paris, and it became known as ‘La Marseillaise’. Versailles was an important place in France, but its volunteers were not associated with introducing this song in Paris. Exam tip: Link ‘La Marseillaise’ with the city of Marseilles and the patriotic song of the French Revolution.
