Who was the major leader of the Jacobin Club?
Answer and explanation
The Jacobin Club was a political organisation that became influential during the French Revolution. Its members supported a republic and, during the radical phase, advocated strong measures against opponents of the Revolution. Maximilien Robespierre became its most prominent leader and was closely associated with the Committee of Public Safety and the Reign of Terror.
Therefore option A is correct. Napoleon III belonged to a much later period and was not a Jacobin leader. Louis XIV was the earlier absolute monarch of France, not a revolutionary club leader. De Launay was the governor of the Bastille when it was attacked. Remembering Robespierre together with the Jacobin Club helps distinguish revolutionary leadership from the monarchy and from later imperial rule.
