Why was the stab in the back myth historically misleading?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Because it blamed the new democratic government and its leaders for the military defeat

The “stab in the back” myth claimed that democratic politicians, socialists and Jews had betrayed Germany. In fact, by 1918 the German army had been badly weakened at the front, and the military leadership had accepted the need for an armistice. Blaming the new Weimar government for the defeat was therefore misleading. Option B is wrong because Germany did not win the war. Exam tip: remember this myth as propaganda used against the Weimar Republic.
