If a state has medium average density but some cities are very dense which conclusion is correct?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Population distribution within the state is uneven

Average population density is calculated by dividing the total population by the total area. It gives a useful overall figure, but it does not show how people are arranged inside the state. A medium average can result from a combination of very crowded cities, moderately populated towns, and sparsely populated rural, hilly, or forested areas. Therefore, the average may hide substantial internal differences in population distribution.

If some cities are very dense while the state average is only medium, the population is clearly not spread equally. Option B and option D wrongly treat an average as if it described every place, while option C contradicts the existence of dense cities. Thus option A is correct.
