Which mistake can be most common in calculating population density?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Dividing area by population instead of dividing population by area

Population density is calculated as total population ÷ total area. Dividing area by population reverses the ratio and does not give density. Using only urban population may also be inappropriate in a special case, but reversing the numerator and denominator is the most direct formula error. Exam tip: check that the final unit is persons per square kilometre.
