Why does water availability remain more regular in Himalayan rivers?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Because they receive water from both glaciers and rainfall

Himalayan rivers receive water from melting glaciers and snow during warmer months, and from rainfall during the rainy season. Therefore, they generally maintain flow for most of the year and are called perennial rivers. Rivers dependent only on monsoon rainfall may have much less water in the dry season. Exam tip: Himalayan rivers are fed by glaciers plus rainfall, whereas Peninsular rivers depend mainly on rainfall.
