Answer and explanation
The Godavari is called ‘Dakshin Ganga’ because it is one of the largest river systems of Peninsular India and has an extensive drainage basin. The Kaveri is also an important South Indian river, but it is not commonly known by this nickname. Exam tip: associate the title ‘Dakshin Ganga’ with the Godavari.
