Why is it not enough to see only father's strictness to understand Kezia's fear?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Because child imagination, lack of dialogue and insecurity are also behind the fear

The governing idea is that a child’s emotional judgement is shaped by both external behaviour and inner interpretation. Kezia notices her father’s loud voice, stern manner and formal distance, but her imagination enlarges these features because she has little open conversation with him. She is also insecure around an adult whom she does not yet understand. Therefore, strictness is an important cause, but not the complete explanation. Option A is correct because it includes the child’s imagination, lack of communication and insecurity. Option B denies evidence in the story, while C and D do not explain the main source of her fear.
