Why could Kezia's father show his love less openly?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: He remained tired from work

The governing concept is the difference between a person’s outward manner and inner feeling. Kezia’s father works during the day and often returns home tired and serious. His fatigue, formal behaviour, and limited conversation make him seem unapproachable, so he does not display affection as openly as Mr Macdonald does. This does not mean that he lacks love. The later nightmare scene proves that he is protective and caring when Kezia needs him. Therefore, option A is correct: he remained tired from work. Option B is inaccurate because he does come home; option C is absurd and contradicted by the family relationship; option D wrongly changes his reserved manner into hatred. The story teaches readers not to judge affection only by visible expressions.
