Human rights are a broad moral and legal idea based on the equal worth and dignity of every human being. Democratic rights are more specifically connected with participation, equality before public authority, political freedom and institutions through which people influence government and seek remedies. They are different in scope, but connected because democratic systems can translate the promise of human dignity into enforceable rules and accountable procedures.
