Who signs the result sheet after counting is completed?
Answer and explanation
The correct answer is A: the Returning Officer signs the result sheet. The Returning Officer is the authorised election official responsible for supervising important formal steps, including the proper recording and declaration of the result after counting. Once votes have been counted, the figures are entered in the official result documents, checked according to the prescribed procedure, and certified. Voters only cast their votes; they do not certify the final count, so B is wrong. Media representatives may report the result, but they have no authority to sign the official result sheet, so C is wrong. Police officers help with security and order, not certification of election results, so D is wrong. Memory cue: the Returning Officer returns the official result to the election record by certifying it.
