What is the officer posted at the polling station called?
Answer and explanation
Answer: A, the officer working at the polling station is called a polling officer. Polling officers assist in conducting the voting process according to election rules. Their duties can include checking voter details, supporting the identification procedure, maintaining records, guiding voters, and helping ensure orderly polling under the direction of the authorised election staff. B is wrong because a Chief Justice is a senior judicial official, not the ordinary officer assigned to manage voting at a polling station. C is wrong because a news editor works in journalism and has no official polling duty. D is wrong because a school principal manages a school; being present in a school building does not make that person a polling officer. Memory cue: polling officer belongs to polling, just as a teacher belongs to teaching.
