Beauty is one possible quality of art, but it is not the complete definition of art. An artwork can communicate an idea, raise a question, record an experience, challenge a belief, express a feeling, or make viewers notice an issue. Some works may even be deliberately uncomfortable rather than conventionally beautiful. Their value can lie in thought, meaning, emotion, or the response they create in the viewer.

Option C is correct because it recognises these wider functions of art. Option A is false because art can certainly be beautiful. Option B wrongly reduces all art to mathematics, while option D ignores the important relationship between an artwork and its audience. Art is multidimensional: appearance matters, but so do intention, context, interpretation, and human experience.
