When is shape contrast used most effectively in a composition?

When contrast helps highlight the main idea

Contrast means a noticeable difference between visual elements. In shape contrast, the difference may come from size, outline, complexity, direction, or whether forms are geometric or organic. Contrast is most useful when it has a clear purpose, such as directing attention to the subject or separating an important symbol from its background. Difference alone is not automatically good design; too much unrelated contrast can make a composition confusing.

Choice A is correct because purposeful contrast supports the main idea and increases emphasis. Contrast that is added without a reason may compete for attention and weaken the message.
