What happens when saturation contrast is also increased between a warm subject and cool background?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: The subject will become more dominant

The governing concept is cumulative contrast. A warm subject already differs from a cool background in colour temperature; increasing the saturation difference adds another separating cue. The eye therefore notices the subject more quickly, making it a stronger focal element. Saturation contrast cannot remove temperature contrast or turn both colours neutral, and it does not automatically make the background advance.
