What conclusion follows if an object's cast shadow extends toward the light?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: The lighting is not logical

A cast shadow normally extends away from the light source because the object blocks the light travelling toward the surface. If the drawn shadow points toward the stated or visible light source, the relationship between light direction and shadow direction is contradictory. Unless a special reflected or multiple-light situation is clearly intended, the lighting is therefore illogical. Object weight and symmetry do not determine this direction.
