The governing concept is symbolic, or hierarchical, scale. In realistic depiction, size usually changes according to distance: a far object is shown smaller, while a nearer object is larger. Symbolic scale works differently because size communicates importance, authority, holiness, or social status rather than physical position in space. Option B is therefore correct: making a deity or leader much larger than surrounding figures tells the viewer that the person has special significance. Option A and option C mainly describe size changes associated with depth and viewpoint. Option D uses overlap, another spatial cue, but it does not by itself explain symbolic scale. The meaning comes from deliberate exaggeration of relative size.
