In the same scene the farther of two similar people is shown only slightly smaller although the distance is very large. What is the main problem?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Size reduction for depth is insufficient

The governing concept is scale and relative size in spatial depth. Similar objects that move farther from the viewer generally appear smaller, so a large difference in distance should normally produce a noticeable difference in apparent height or size. If the farther person is only slightly smaller, the drawing does not communicate the depth consistently. Therefore option D is correct; facial proportion, colour value, and line type do not primarily cause this scale error.
