How will the top surface of a box appear when it is close to eye level?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Less visible and narrow

The governing concept is viewpoint and the relation between eye level and visible planes. When the top of a box approaches the observer’s eye level, the line of sight becomes nearly parallel to that top plane, so only a narrow strip is visible. It will not normally appear as a widely open plane or a perfect square. Its apparent size depends on viewing position, not on the bottom surface becoming smaller or larger.
