In an abstract composition, shapes may not depict recognisable objects, so meaning is built mainly through their visual relationships. The viewer considers the relative size of forms, the distance between them, contrast in value or contour, repetition, direction, and rhythm. A large isolated shape may feel dominant, while repeated small forms may suggest movement or order. Option A is correct because it names the relationships that guide interpretation without relying on an object label. Option B is unsuitable when no literal object is represented. Paper thickness and frame material may affect presentation, but they do not usually determine the internal meaning of the shape arrangement. Interpretation can differ among viewers, yet these visual cues provide the basis for reading it.
