Music remains primarily auditory because rhythm, melody, harmony, voice, or instrumental sound still carries the central musical experience. On a stage, however, the audience also sees the performers’ gestures and body language, the arrangement of the stage, lighting, costume, movement, and the reactions of other viewers.
