If an exam asks why management is a profession but not a full profession what will be the best answer?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: It has special knowledge training code of conduct and service motive but entry and membership are not fully compulsory

Management has several characteristics of a profession. It uses a body of specialised knowledge, can be learned through education and training, involves ethical expectations and is connected with serving organisational and wider interests. Managers therefore need competence and responsible judgement rather than merely holding a job title.

At the same time, management does not satisfy every condition of a full profession. Unlike fields with tightly regulated entry, a person may become a manager without passing one compulsory examination or joining one compulsory professional body. Option A is correct because it combines the positive features with this limitation. Options B, C and D are inaccurate: management does require knowledge, includes a service element and is more than simply earning a salary.
