What is the safest examination conclusion for calling management a profession?
Answer and explanation
Management is an emerging professionप्रबंधन उभरता हुआ पेशा है
The governing concept is the extent to which management satisfies the features of a profession. Management has specialised knowledge, formal educational programmes, professional associations, ethical expectations and a service orientation. However, it does not require a single compulsory entry qualification or compulsory membership of one professional body for all managers. Since some features are present strongly while others are incomplete, it would be inaccurate to call management a fully established profession or to deny its professional character altogether. Thus option B, ‘management is an emerging profession’, is the safest conclusion. Options A, C and D are extreme statements: management does have professional qualities, managerial decisions involve more than luck, and ethical conduct is both possible and necessary.
