Which feature connects management with profession?

Correct answer: Body of specialised knowledge

The direct answer is A: a body of specialised knowledge. A profession is based on organised knowledge, principles, methods, and skills learned through study or training. Management uses ideas such as planning, organising, staffing, directing, and controlling. Step by step, management decisions are not normally made by random guessing: first the manager understands the situation, then applies suitable principles, considers resources and people, takes a decision, and checks results. Therefore specialised knowledge connects management with a profession. Option A is correct because management has a systematic body of concepts and techniques. Option B, unsystematic guesswork, is not a professional basis because random guesses cannot ensure reliable decisions. Option C, complete rulelessness, is wrong because management follows procedures, policies, laws, and ethical standards, even though every situation may not have one fixed rule. Option D, only family authority, is wrong because management authority can arise from organisational responsibility, competence, and position; it is not limited to family ownership. Remember: profession means organised knowledge plus trained application, not guesswork or personal birthright.
