The gross claim of a deceased partner is ₹166000. Accumulated loss of ₹6000 and drawings of ₹10000 are to be debited to the partner’s Capital Account. What will be the net claim payable to the deceased partner?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: ₹150000

Net claim = Gross claim − Accumulated loss − Drawings = ₹166000 − ₹6000 − ₹10000 = ₹150000. Both accumulated loss and drawings reduce the deceased partner’s Capital Account and therefore reduce the amount payable. In the examination, deduct all items debited to the partner’s Capital Account while calculating the net claim.
