On dissolution of a partnership firm, if an amount from the debtors proves to be irrecoverable, how is it treated in the Realisation Account?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: रियलाइज़ेशन खाते में डेबिट करके हानि के रूप में दर्ज किया जाता है

An amount from debtors that cannot be recovered represents an actual loss to the firm. It is therefore debited to the Realisation Account, increasing the loss on realisation. Crediting it would be incorrect because the credit side records amounts realised from assets and other gains. Exam tip: an irrecoverable amount from debtors is treated as a realisation loss, not as a gain or a direct capital adjustment.
