At the time of dissolution of a firm, what is generally done with its unsold assets?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: A partner may take them over at an agreed value

If an asset is not sold during dissolution, a partner may take it over at an agreed value. The partner’s Capital or Current Account is debited, and the Realisation Account is credited with that value. The asset is not automatically treated as zero or deposited in the bank. Exam tip: when a partner takes over an asset, credit the Realisation Account and debit the partner’s account.
