What type of information do Smritis and Dharmasutras provide?
Answer and explanation
Information about social rules and dutiesसामाजिक नियमों और कर्तव्यों की जानकारी
Smritis and Dharmasutras discuss norms concerning conduct, duties, family relations, social categories, rituals and obligations. They mainly describe ideals prescribed by learned authorities, not necessarily the way every person lived. Historians therefore compare them with other evidence. Cave paintings, fish trade and weather reports are not their defining subject.
