Qutb-ud-din Aibak began the Qutb Minar, but Iltutmish, his successor, added several storeys and is generally credited with completing the main structure. Later repairs and additions occurred after damage, but that does not change the traditional attribution of completion to Iltutmish. Akbar, Shah Jahan and Razia Sultan did not complete it.
