Why is explaining early Earth's instability only by external impacts incomplete?

Answer and explanation

Correct answer: Internal heat and volcanic activity were also active

Along with external impacts, early Earth released enormous internal energy from retained heat, radioactive decay and internal differentiation. This drove intense volcanism, widespread melting and gas release, so impacts alone cannot explain its instability. A fully developed ozone layer formed much later, after sufficient oxygen accumulated in the atmosphere. Exam tip: for early-Earth changes, mention both external impacts and internal geological processes.
